Privacy Policy

1. Our Privacy Commitment

At Online Ruler Inches, we take your privacy extremely seriously. We believe that utility tools should do their job without tracking their users. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your personal information, location details, or physical measurements. Everything you measure and calibrate remains entirely private.

2. How We Use Browser Local Storage

To provide a seamless user experience, we utilize your web browser's localStorage feature. When you calibrate the ruler (for example, by inputting your screen diagonal or aligning the credit card box), the calculated Pixels Per Inch (PPI) value is saved locally on your device.

This local value is used to:

  • Keep the ruler calibrated on return visits, avoiding the need to recalibrate.
  • Remember your preferred measurement unit (Inches, Centimeters, or Pixels).
  • Remember your preferred website theme (Light or Dark mode) and language selection.

This data is stored purely client-side within your browser database and is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser cache or cookies.

3. Analytics and Advertising

We may use basic, privacy-friendly analytics tools or standard display advertising to help cover server hosting costs. These third-party networks may use cookies or device identifiers to serve non-personalized advertisements or measure site traffic patterns.

These services are governed by their respective privacy policies. You can choose to disable or selectively turn off third-party cookies in your browser settings or use content blocking utilities.

4. Hardware Profile Data

Our auto-calibration system accesses basic, non-personally identifiable client properties via the browser (such as device pixel ratio, user agent, and screen resolution bounds). This information is evaluated dynamically in your browser to match your hardware to a pre-defined PPI list. None of this hardware metadata is collected or uploaded to our backend servers.

5. Links to External Sites

Our Website may contain links to external sites (such as documentation references or official standard sites) that are not operated by us. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of these third-party websites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their policies.

6. Questions & Contact

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this Privacy Policy or how your local browser preferences are handled, please contact us through our dedicated Contact Us page.
